So close to that second stretch goal...........
over 1 year ago – Tue, Aug 23, 2022 at 12:02:22 PM

We are getting really close to unlocking the second stretch goal, in which I will host a fun hour-long get-to-know-me type happy hour extravaganza on Zoom for all of you. I think maybe a flash goal might help tip us over that edge! So, to that end, if we get five new backers in the next 48 hours, I will have two printable coloring pages designed, based on scenes from the books.

If that sounds like fun, make sure you share the campaign so we can get there quickly!

And in the meantime, if you like wholesome family-oriented fantasy stories check out this other campaign too:

First Stretch Goal Reached!
over 1 year ago – Sun, Aug 21, 2022 at 03:37:38 PM

This campaign is chugging along and gaining steam! We have officially unlocked our first stretch goal, which means all backers will get three months of my Patreon content direct to your email! I know not everyone wants extra emails, so I will absolutely give everyone the chance to opt out, but I do think most of you are going to love it.

And now for Stretch Goal #2!

If we reach $1,000 I will do a live Happy Hour Chat for backers. It will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and get to know me as a human, just a fun, informal hour on Zoom with the author. I may even read you a segment or two from the new book!

So, let's keep this momentum going! Please share the page with friends, family, neighbors, door-to-door salespeople, your afternoon barista, the alien who tries to abduct you tonight.... You know, just generally everyone.

Thanks!

-Anna

PS -- A good friend of mine recently set up the prelaunch page for her upcoming cozy mystery campaign. She's been telling me a lot about her plans for this campaign, and it's going to have some really fantastic bonus stuff. Plus, it'll be in October, and fall is just the perfect time for cozy books, am I right? I haven't read these ones, but if they're half as good as her fantasy books, it's well worth following and backing! Find it here:

AND WE ARE FUNDED!!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Aug 19, 2022 at 10:31:49 AM

Anna McCluskey, looking very happy, with a wide grin on her face

See this face? This is the face of a very happy author whose Kickstarter just funded! HUZZAH!

So, now that we're funded, let's talk STRETCH GOALS! I'm going to start us off with a really, really cool one that I think (hope) you're all going to absolutely love. Are you ready?

If we hit $750, all backers will get three months of my Patreon content straight to their email for free. That's three months of my portal fantasy serial (and don't worry -- I'll send you what's already out first), three months of sneak peaks into my life and my writing, exclusive stories and poems, and more. I post on Patreon once a week, so that's a lot of free stuff you're getting there!

Please share the campaign to make sure we hit that goal, and I've got more exciting stretch goal ideas to come, so let's just blow right past that one, and get into more of them!

And if you're looking for something else amazing to back, check out MD Cooper's Outsystem!

New Swag!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Aug 18, 2022 at 01:26:10 PM

We are so close to being funded, and I keep having these fantastic ideas for more amazing bonus stuff I can put into those Book Box tiers.

I came up with a logo for the order of the Sisters of Saint Joan, and I'm totally going to put it on a sword-cleaning cloth and put them into the boxes!

I mean, I know most of you prooooooobably don't need a cloth for cleaning swords, but you can absolutely use it to clean your glasses, camera lenses, phone screens . . . and then feel like you're cleaning a sword as you do it.

Here's the logo -- I'm so pleased with how it turned out!

A black background with a white silhouette of a sword in the center. Above the sword are the words The Sisters of Saint Joan, and below it reads The original Warrior Mages, since 1025 AD

The Sisters of Saint Joan first show up in The Viper's Head, the second book of the series, when they join in at the Battle of St. Louis. They're an order of warrior nuns, and they run a school and convent in St. Louis.

Actually, the school and convent are in the same location (and share the same name) as the high school that I attended and the convent that ran it. That school has closed down in the years since I went there, and when I heard it was closing, I knew I had to immortalize it in a book!

The sisters who ran MY school were actually called The Sisters of the Most Precious Blood. Even though that would also make a kick-ass name for an order of warrior nuns, I changed it out of deference for the fact that the order itself is still around. I decided to name it after one of the best-known woman warriors in history, Joan of Arc.

Sister Catherine, a stitcher, is the leader of the St. Louis convent of the Sisters of St. Joan, but Sister Margaret has been one of my all-time favorite characters to write. She's the foul-mouthed, heavily armed seer in charge of security at the convent, and, along with Trevor, will be one of the main characters of the next series I write, a spin-off called Warrior Mage Librarians.

The sword in the above logo is the symbol of the order, and Sister Margaret has a more detailed version of it tattooed on her forearm with spelled ink. It allows her to navigate the school and convent when the alarm spell is in effect, so she can find intruders without being caught in her own mage traps. All Book Box backers will get temporary versions of that tattoo and the spelled tat she has on her other arm as well. Here you can see me sporting them:

Two arms, one with a sword tattoo and one with a shield tattoo

My husband thinks I put the sword on upside down, and people on social media seemed to agree, but you can wear them however you want!

If you didn't back at the Book Box level, don't worry! You still have a few more days to upgrade to get this (and more) awesome swag!

Halfway There!
over 1 year ago – Wed, Aug 17, 2022 at 01:22:24 PM

The page has been live for only a day, and we are already halfway to the funding goal! Thank you for being a part of this -- you are freaking awesome. I do want to take a moment to remind anyone who is still just following along at this point that you only have until tomorrow at 8am Pacific to take advantage of the early bird tiers. After that, they will go away forever. If you're thinking about upgrading, now is the time to do it.

Let's get this campaign funded so we can start on the awesome stretch goals I have planned! If you haven't done so yet, please share the page with friends, family, co-workers, anyone you think might like it.

And once again, thank you for being here!
